Ljuba Popovic, best known as Ljuba, is a serbian artist born on 14th october 1934, in Tuzla (former Yougoslavia) and deceased in Belgrade (Serbia) on 12th august 2016. He lived in France for more than fifty years. His work, filled with strange creatures, surrounded by objects, structures and indefinable landscapes, is often qualified as « fantastic » or « surrealist ».

EXHIBIT AT SERBIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND ARTS
ENDS WITH SUCCESS

The Ljuba Popovic retrospective exhibit, at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (“SANU”) achieved a kind of success that wasn’t seen lately in Belgrade.
More than 50 000 people came to visit, from within and outside the country.
The first edition of the exhibit’s catalog was sold out a few days before its end. The great interest that was shown by the public, but also by information channels, confirmed and reinforced the prominence that Ljuba’s art has been enjoying for several years now among art enthousiasts.
